Ugadi celebrations in Colorado, USA - Press Release

Colorado Telugu Association conducted a grandiose celebration of Sarvadhari Nama Ugadi with big fanfare on 12th January at Jefferson High School, Denver, USA. This event was well attended by about 500 people from all through Colorado state, and with people from out of state. Everyone welcomed the new year ‘Sarwadhari’ with a great reflection of rich, traditional Telugu dresses, delicious Andhra-style feast dinner and a dazzling display of cultural events. The auditorium at Jefferson High School was artistically decorated with a majestic arch and multitude of flowers, festoons and shining bright lights. The function started with a social hour at 3pm, by serving snacks and coffee, along with the traditional Ugadi Pachadi. The cultural programs started at 4:30pm with Carnatic classical Sri Gananadha, which was then followed by a series of amazing performances by kids and adults. Graceful classical dances like Tandava Nritya kari, Pushpanjali, Cheri Yashodaku, Krishnam Kalayasakhi and Alokaye Sakhi Balakrishnam mesmerized the audience, with a conventional touch. Lively dance items for super-hit movie songs like Rabbaru Gajulu, Hamma Hamma, Vijrotsava vedukalu Nritya Sangamam, Dole Dole, Jagadam is a fashion, Chiru Chindulu kept the spectators incredibly excited. CTA president Sankar Gunturu gave a welcome speech and appreciated the overwhelming support given by the Telugu community in Colorado. Mementoes were presented to the previous CTA committee members by the current committee members, in appreciation of their services to CTA. Panchanga Sravanam was done by Sri Jagannadhacharyulu garu. Other programs included recitation of Telugu Padyams by kids, Annamacharya Sankeerthana, Kaun Banega Koteeswarudu, Fashion show and were very well received. After the Dinner break, program resumed with spellbinding singing performances from Mr.Kaushik Kommaraju, Mr.Prasad Kommaraju, Mrs.Chayadevi Ramayanam and Mrs.Saritha Bangarala. Variety of melodious and smashing hit songs from old and new Telugu and Hindi movies was the star attraction of the night. The songs were so lively and energetic that they attracted kids and adults of all ages to come on to the stage and dance to the tunes!! CTA Cultural Secretary Smt Madhuri Mohan along with Smt Shyamala Kattula conducted the proceedings on this glittery evening as ‘Master of Ceremonies’. CTA committee members Sankar Gunturu, Hari Morisetti, Sridhar Ponnapalli, Madhuri Mohan, Lavanya Yammanur, Sridevi Garimella, Baburao Bachu, Amar Kallupalle, Mohan Koneru, Gunakar Darisi, Nagreddy Gorla, Venkat Donthinani and Manmohan Dronamraju impressively organized various aspects of this wonderful event. Several other volunteers helped with the organization and coordination of all the activities. A total of over 125 participants took part in the cultural programs, and several other people volunteered all through the event.
