Event Details of Samaikhya Andhra Pradesh by UTF (Phoenix, USA)

United Telugu Foundation (www.unitedtelugu.org) organized an event in support of Samaikhya Andhra Pradesh on Dec 20th 2009; about 250 Telugu NRIs have assembled at the Indo-American Center, 2809 W Maryland Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85017, supporting the cause. It was attended by many Arizona residents of Telugu Community representing all regions of Andhra Pradesh; the event was also attended by guests from California, Detroit, Chicago and Nevada. Representation included several professionals from diverse areas of IT, Pharma, Finance, Medical and active community leaders.

As a tribute to United Andhra Pradesh, the event commenced with the song “Maa Telugu Talliki Mallepu Danda”. The meeting further progressed with emotional speech from people representing various regions and communities within Andhra Pradesh. Some of the prominent speakers included Shyam Avvari, Dr. Kumar Raavi, Sai Bellamkonda, Smitha Jakkamsetti, Siva Kamineni, Shyam Byra, Baktha Balla, Srinivas Dasari, Dr. Srinivas Reddy Palnati, Satyanarayana Vasireddy and Srinivas Uppalapati.

Speakers participated actively and expressed their heartfelt grief and agony, caused by the recent events in our Andhra Pradesh. They also expressed their condolences for all the students and people who lost their innocent lives, and appealed to maintain peace and integrity and refrain from any emotional and violent actions.

Speakers focused on presenting the facts, figures and statistics supporting the cause for United Andhra Pradesh, rather than focusing on the political outlook. This helped audience evaluate the advantages of staying united and cons of the supposed split. With details shared by knowledgeable speakers, the event was open for voluntary signup of resolution for ‘Samaikhya Andhra’, which drew tremendous response. Details of the resolution:

  • We, Telugu People from the State of Arizona in the United States of America, resolute to keep Andhra Pradesh united, harmonious and prosperous.
  • We believe division is not the solution to address any social, economical or political challenges.
  • We request the public, the state government and the union government to act responsibly before making further mayhem.
  • We strongly urge politicians representing our people to promote unity instead of satisfying political ambitions of a few.
  • Once again we reiterate that United We Stand, Divided We Fall.

The event concluded discussing next steps of how we plan to approach honorable authorities and people to attain an acceptable and meaningful resolution to the peace and unity in Andhra Pradesh.
