The Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce has urged the producers in the Telugu film industry not to sell their movies to OTT platforms till October this year. In a statement, the Chamber has said that the producers can opt for the direct OTT release of their movies if theatres are not operational even after October.
The Chamber feels that exhibitors and distributors will chalk out their own course if the producers continue to skip the theatrical release of their movies. A General Body meeting will be held on July 7. Probably, certain conditions will be imposed to make the producers desist from selling their movies to OTT platforms.
The Chamber has also urged the Andhra Pradesh government to remove the extant ticket prices, which they feel are unsustainable. This request has been made by the producers as well.
