The shortlisting of 'Naatu Naatu' for the Oscars has brought cheers not just to team 'RRR' but also to the entire film industry. After all, the Jr NTR-Ram Charan dance-off is the first Indian song to receive the honor.

The Mega Power Star today described the shortlisting as historic. "What a historic moment for the entire Indian Film Industry… Couldn’t be more honoured to note that 'Naatu Naatu' becomes the first Indian song to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards! (sic)," the 'Rangasthalam' actor wrote.

In an old interview, SS Rajamouli said that the song is not just a dance number but a short story in itself. "There is an emotion that runs through the song. The initial idea was to make the best use of the dancing skills of the two actors. But the song became more than that," Rajamouli said.
