Aishwarya Lekshmi could become the next sweet surprise

On Tuesday night, the Telugu film 'Ammu' started streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Aishwarya Lekshmi plays a wife who is subjected to domestic violence in the film, which takes the form of a domestic neo-noir thriller after the entry of Bobby Simha's character. Naveen Chandra plays the husband of the titular character (played by Aishwarya).

Satya Dev's 'Godse' was Aishwarya's first Telugu film. Her immense talent was not used properly there. But 'Ammu' makes use of her performative skills in the best way possible.

After playing the cute boatwoman Poonguzhali in 'Ponniyin Selvan: I', Aishwarya has got to shine in yet another sensible film less than a month. She has the calibre to become the next sweet surprise, provided directors offer her substantial roles.

We have had to rely on the likes of Sai Pallavi and Anushka Shetty to excel in performance-oriented, female-centric films. Aishwarya, known for titles like 'Jagame Thandhiram', could well become a sought-after name in the coming years.
