Why Trivikram couldn't cast R Narayana Murthy

At a film event in Hyderabad today, director Trivikram Srinivas revealed that he wanted to cast R Narayana Murthy for a role in one of his movies. But he didn't approach him because someone told him nobody can buy Murthy with remuneration.

In his speech, Trivikram described Murthy as a superstar in his own right. "I know the super-hits he had made. I remember Ardharatri Swatantram and Orey Riksha," Trivikram said.

Trivikram made a mark in the 1990s. In the 2000s, his films became commercially unviable, though. "The prime reason why my films lost audiences in the 2000s is that, by then, theatres started reducing the lower class and increased the number of balcony class seats. My audience segment was squeezed out that way (because they found the balcony ticket rate unaffordable)," Murthy once said in an interview.
