A recent online debate has sparked a conversation about the remarkable longevity of leading actresses in South Indian cinema, with Trisha Krishnan and Nayanthara at the center. Fans and industry observers are weighing in on which actress holds the title for the longest-standing career as a leading heroine.
"Trisha Krishnan might be the longest-standing actress playing a heroine in South India? Her debut was when she was 18, and now she is 42 years old; in that, roughly two decades, she has held her playing heroine against top actors in Tamil. Is there any other actress around now who shares this credential?" a netizen asked. A movie buff pointed at Nayanthara, who too started at the age of 18 and she is 41 year old now. "Unlike Trisha, who disappeared after 2012, Nayanthara never took a long break," he argues.
Another movie buff says, "Trisha is almost unmatched in sustaining her leading heroine status for over two decades. Very few others have managed that consistency in South cinema."
Both Trisha and Nayanthara have broken barriers and defied the norms of a male-dominated industry. Trisha was recently seen in movies like Thug Life. She is Chiranjeevi's heroine in Vishwambhara. Nayanthara is Chiranjeevi's heroine in Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu.
