Bunny Vas on Pallichattambi, Tollywood profit margins, and AA22 update

Pallichattambi came to Bunny Vas' notice when his long-term acquaintance and director Maruthi first spoke to him about it. When he went to Kochi to watch the rushes, he discovered that the Tovino Thomas-starrer isn't just another film.

"I knew it was a prestigious, high-budget commercial spectacle. It’s rare to see Telugu producers (the CCC Brothers) craft such a technically rich film in the Malayalam industry. It breaks the stereotype of Malayalam cinema being 'only' concept-driven by delivering a grand, commercial experience that I’m certain will resonate deeply with Telugu audiences," Vas shared, speaking at the pre-release event of the movie.

He is aware of the demanding environment and cinematic culture that prevails in the Telugu film industry. "In a way, transitioning from Mollywood to Tollywood is not a low-hanging fruit," Vas analyzes. Typically, the ROI on a successful Telugu movie is less than that on a hit Malayalam movie. Considering this structural reality, it is always better to be cautious about rolling out a Telugu movie.

Bunny Vas' take underlines a fascinating paradox in the current film trade. While the Telugu industry often boasts much higher budgets and a massive mass cinema culture, the Malayalam industry has mastered a high-return-on-investment (ROI) model that keeps their producers thriving.

Pallichattambi, a commercial movie in many ways, will be counted for its Editing. "If you want to watch a new kind of commercial movie, watch this one in theatres," Vas tells the audience. He lauds heroine Kayadu Lohar.

"The era of linguistic barriers in cinema is over; Telugu cinema has officially gone global. To keep our distribution and theater systems thriving, we must actively embrace and integrate films from other languages. That’s exactly why I am committed to bringing diverse stories to the Telugu audience, starting with Pallichattambi, which won me over with its exceptional screenplay," he says.

Pallichattambi will head to theatres on April 10. Chanakya, Chaitanya, and Charan of C Cube Bros Entertainments are producing the movie.

Bunny Vas provides a key update on Allu Arjun's next:

Marking the Icon Star's birthday on April 8, the title and poster of his film with Atlee will be unveiled.
