The Teaser for Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana has been trolled heavily online. It has been one of the most disliked teasers since Prabhas' Adipurush.
The aesthetic of the teaser has been trashed by netizens. "The desperate, pathetic urge to DC-Marvelize one’s own religion is laughable," wrote Amit Schandillia. "When will this GoTfication (Game of Thrones) and LotRfication (Lord of the Rings) of our historical figures stop? Those villain figures look like aliens and Indianness is missing! Music is good but lacks the Hindu soul," Priya Mucharla opined. The music by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer is devoid of the Sanskritic flavour.
Several other movie buffs have echoed the view. "There is no end to VFX; we are expecting Ramayana to be Marvel-level stuff, but it can’t be. Our story is simple. I prefer a non-VFX-coded Ramayana anytime. Humans doing human things. Showing futuristic Pushpak etc is gimmicky. You either make it a totally imaginary story or you stick to what it is, the roots," wrote Chirag Barjatya.
The makers' claim that the Ramayana duology's budget is Rs 4,000 Cr has been laughed at. "Where has the money gone? Even Ranbir Kapoor doesn't look like Rama. He looks more like Indra," a netizen commented.
As per producer Namit Malhotra, Ramayana's technical brilliance is ahead of even the Hollywood curve. Motion capture, facial capture, and motion control have been used. Co-starring Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol, Ramayana will hit the cinemas for Diwali this year. The second part is up for a Diwali 2027 release.
