Rakasa was released in theatres on April 3 (Friday). The fantasy horror-comedy has emerged as a commanding crowd puller at the ticket counters.
The numbers speak for themselves: The film earned a solid Rs 5.6 crore worldwide gross on its first day (this includes the collections from Thursday premieres). By the second day, earnings jumped significantly to reach a total of Rs 10.30 crore worldwide. The overseas market contributed over $257K to this global total.
The film is currently trending on BookMyShow with over 60.03K tickets booked in the last 24 hours. It maintains an impressive user rating of 8.7.
This momentum shows the film is gaining ground with each passing show across all territories. Strong footfalls are creating a lively theatrical atmosphere in both domestic and international centers, Pink Elephant Pictures and Zee Studios shared. As per producer Niharika Konidela, the second half is particularly engaging the family audience, especially the comedy pulled off by Sangeeth Soban (hero) and Vennela Kishore (he is more than just a comedian) in the presence of other characters, played by Nayan Sarika (heroine) and Get-up Srinu (he is more than just the hero's sidekick). Many feel that Kishore's comedy timing adds a high repeat value to the film. Stress-busting humor, content that appeals to kids, the script's cross-generational connection have worked in the movie's favour.
Directed by Manasa Sharma, the film also features Asish Vidyarthi andTanikella Bharani. Anudeep Dev is its music director. The 'three warnings' element in Rakasa has been used to build tension. Are the villagers superstitious? Just when we assume the narrative is going to spend its energies on exploring this social question, it moves to the ghost's tragic story. This way, the writing is smart and unpredictable.
