Raakaasa: Distributors super-happy, team elated

The Raakaasa Blockbuster Distributors Success Meet served as a signal to the film’s remarkable theatrical journey. Raakaasa has emerged as one of the season’s most consistent performers. It has defied modern box office trends. The film initially launched on 480 screens, and its strength is evident in its second-week hold of 341 screens. In an era where poorly received films lose screens rapidly, this retention confirms its status as the biggest blockbuster since the Sankranthi season. The financial trajectory is equally impressive; distributors across all territories expected to reach the breakeven point within days before entering a significant profit zone. This momentum is being further bolstered by a strategic Rs 100 flat ticket pricing initiative across single screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Key distributors played a pivotal role in this triumph. Subba Reddy, representing Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, noted that the film’s ability to maintain over 300 screens into the second week is a feat usually reserved for massive star vehicles. Krishna territory distributor Paandu reported that the film is running on 60 screens in his region, with women and children forming a significant portion of the repeat audience. Ramesh Yadav, the Ceeded distributor, credited Raakaasa with finally bringing family audiences back to theaters in large numbers after a long hiatus following the Sankranthi holidays. Bhaskar of Lasya Films in East Godavari and Sunny from Nellore also highlighted the extraordinary engagement from younger viewers and children, cementing the film's reputation as a clean, imaginative entertainer.

Producer Niharika Konidela shared her deep emotional connection to the project and its reception. She noted that this was her first time hosting a dedicated event for distributors. She stressed that, if it were possible, she would personally thank every single audience member who bought a ticket. She expressed that as a producer, her primary goal is to ensure that both the audience's hearts and the distributors' pockets remain happy. Niharika credited her growth and confidence to the constant efforts of her team, mentioning that her guidance comes from industry veterans like Mythri Movie Makers' Ravi Shankar Y, Yarlagadda Supriya, and Swapna Dutt. She described hero Sangeeth Sobhan as her "Shining Star," praising his ownership of the film.

Addressing the film's promotion strategy, Niharika explained that the organic relationships she maintains with actors like Vennela Kishore and Brahmaji allow for a comfortable environment that translates into better work and enthusiastic participation in events. She revealed that her cousin, Mega Power Star Ram Charan, has been following the film’s success through their family group chats and expressed his happiness regarding her work as a producer. When selecting projects for Pink Elephant Pictures, she balances her perspective between being a producer and being an audience member, looking specifically for the "soul" of the content. She confirmed that the aggressive post-release promotions are fueled by the energy received from the audience and aimed at reaching those who haven't yet visited the theaters. Looking ahead, she announced that her next major venture, Bhari, is being planned for a Sankranthi 2027 release.

The event featured several other key contributors who added perspective to the film’s success. Executive Producer Manyam Ramesh discussed the challenges of modern distribution. He revealed that despite lead Sangeeth Sobhan having two previous hits, distributors were initially hesitant. It was Subba Reddy who stepped forward first, based on the trust built during their previous collaboration on Committee Kurrollu. Ramesh emphasized that while production is a task, the real work is done by exhibitors and distributors who manage local publicity and theater maintenance during the difficult summer season. He credited their rigorous pre-production process for keeping the film on schedule and within budget, noting that he maintains strict control over production days to manage costs.

Director Manasa Sharma reflected on the rarity of seeing such high female footfall for a contemporary film. As a woman director, she felt immense pride seeing mothers and children enjoying the story. She confirmed that a sequel, Raakaasa 2, is already in the structural phase and will be refined soon. She expressed her desire to continue following the path of her inspiration, B. Vittalacharya, creating imaginative cinema under the Pink Elephant Pictures banner.

Mythri Ravi complimented Niharika’s Midas Touch, stating that everything she touches turns to gold. He described the film as a "crowd film" and a "cool breeze" that has significant longevity remaining in its theatrical run.

Hero Sangeeth Sobhan concluded the speeches by comparing the film’s structure to a tree, where Niharika is the trunk, Manyam Ramesh the branches, the cast and crew the leaves, and the distributors the vital roots. He noted that the true success of the film was achieving their goal of bringing families back to the cinema culture. The event ended on a light note with playful banter between Brahmaji and Sangeeth.
