Pradeep Ranganathan's latest sci-fi rom-com Love Insurance Kompany (LIK) has hit a major roadblock. The film opened with mixed reviews and underwhelming numbers. It earned approximately Rs 7.05 crore net in India on its first day. This is a drop from Pradeep’s previous hit Dude. Trade analysts note that LIK failed to capitalize on its high-concept premise. The numbers suggest the film might struggle to recover its budget.
The Hindu pointed out the movie suffers from a heavy post-intermission dip. The plot follows Vibe Vassey in a neon Chennai of 2040. He falls for an influencer named Dheema who trusts a dating app to find soulmates. Silly moments include a Halloween party where Vassey uses bloody measures to impress his date. Publications noted the absurdity of treating love like a financial insurance product.
Analysts at Sacnilk highlighted that occupancy stayed low at 32.9 percent nationwide. While SJ Suryah brings energy as a tech guru, the story loses rhythm quickly. The Times of India remarked that the execution feels thin despite the visual flair. The film even includes a sequence where US citizens sell umbrellas on Indian streets.
The brand Pradeep Ranganathan stands affected because of the dismal performance of LIK at the Tamil and Telugu box office. In Telugu, it never stood a chance owing to its absolutely lacklustre promotional content. LIK was supposed to hit the cinemas in the last quarter of 2025. OTT deal issues caused a delay. Actress Nayanthara might lose some money on the project.
