Dacoit: Narrative Control and the Adivi Sesh Dilemma

Adivi Sesh finds himself at the center of a digital storm. Movie buffs online have recently derided him with claims that Dacoit mirrors the plot of the older movie Preyasi Rave. This comparison feels reductive and lazy. While two films may share a foundational premise, the soul of cinema lies in its treatment. Dacoit establishes its own identity through a gritty prison opening and a stylish credit sequence.

The narrative structure uses a fragmented flashback style that keeps the audience engaged. Even when the second-half heist sequences lose some momentum, the film avoids the pitfalls of dated melodrama. The directing style remains sharp throughout the runtime.

Much of the online backlash feels disproportionate to the actual quality of the work. The intensity of the criticism raises questions about how much of this negativity is truly organic. It is possible that Sesh is facing this heat simply because he does not manipulate digital narratives. In an era where many stars invest heavily in online image management, a lack of curated defense makes an actor an easy target.
