Toxic to be a new spin on the gangster cinema genre, says Yash

At a time when actors and filmmakers have been advertising the culturally rooted nature of their movies, Yash is proud of the fact that Toxic has been designed for even the non-Indian audiences. This is not to say that its sensibility is not rooted; the international release is very much Indian. Toxic, as per the KGF actor, "caters to everyone while offering a very unique experience".

What he said at the recent CinemaCon 2026 event in Las Vegas is not generic. The film is going to live up to its tagline: A Fairy Tale for Grownups. That's because it will be psychological and layered rather than superficial and plainly violent in its attempt to "redefine the gangster genre".

He added, "This film marks a bit of a milestone for us, as I believe it’s the first time we have shot simultaneously in English. Conceptually, it’s quite layered; while it might appear to be a standard action-packed gangster flick on the surface, it’s far from typical."

The story of Toxic dives deep into human psychology and touches on relatable life experiences in a way that is going to be resonant. "In my opinion, it offers a truly unique perspective on how to portray a dark character," Yash added. A "new take on the gangster" genre has been wanted by the audience. Director Geetu Mohandas, who worked with KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, has readied the product for a June 4th release.

A psychological gangster film shifts the focus from the streets to the psyche. While a traditional gangster movie is about the rise and fall (getting power and losing it), the psychological version is about the internal decay of the person holding that power. Let's see how exciting Toxic is going to be in this regard.
