Bad Boy Karthik: Naga Shaurya's film opens to terrible reviews

Bad Boy Karthik is Naga Shaurya's backlog movie. Released amid a huge delay, it is competing at the box office with Thimmarajupalli TV, Paapam Prathap, and Pallichattambi.

What is the film about? Karthik (Naga Shaurya) is a resident of Vizag who plans to go abroad. Right around that time, he gets acquainted with the daughter (Vidhi Yadav) of a DSP (Sai Kumar). The two fall in love, but soon find themselves in the middle of a conflict. While Karthik is trying to figure out the root cause of their troubles, he learns that his sister (Sridevi Vijay Kumar) is in grave danger. What did the brother do to save his sister? How did he protect his sister and an entire village from two friends who turned into arch-enemies? This forms the crux of the story.

Critics feel the story of Bad Boy Karthik is a generic mix of brother-sister sentiment and family drama that feels outdated. The screenplay is being called poorly written and predictable. Reviews suggest that while Naga Shaurya tried a leaner, more aggressive look, his performance failed to elevate the thin script. Debutante Vidhi Yadav is receiving critiques for her lack of screen presence and limited acting range. Despite having veteran music director Harris Jayaraj and cinematographer Rasool Ellore, critics felt the technical craft couldn't save the "dull" proceedings.
