While there are clear thematic overlaps, they seem to be distinct variations of the "recurrent memory loss" trope. The trailer specifies that Sai Pallavi’s character suffers from Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) after an accident in Japan. This condition causes her to lose her memory for exactly one day. As per the movie's Wiki page, Ek Din is actually a remake of the 2016 Thai film One Day (Fanday... Fan Kun Khae Wan Diaw).
The film is produced by Aamir Khan, whose son, Junaid, is the male lead. Netizens are wondering why the Bollywood superstar has been into non-original plots. His Laal Singh Chaddha was an adaptation of Forrest Gump.
