Puri Jagannadh is not only directing but only co-producing SlumDog, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. The movie should have been an April or May release. So far, there is no certainty regarding when it will hit the cinemas. Since there are no major movies scheduled for Summer, many dates are up for grabs.
It's rumoured that the film, to be released on a good scale in both Tamil and Telugu, has been a failure at OTT shopping. Also, distributors are not interested in the project owing to Puri's poor form. This is his first directorial since the decimation of Vijay Deverakonda's Liger, a failure that rumouredly bankrupted one budding distributor.
SLUMDOG - 33 Temple Road is the full title of the action thriller that has Samyuktha Menon, Kannada actor Duniya Vijay Kumar and Bollywood's Tabu in different roles. The film will likely have only a token release in Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam whenever it comes out. Produced also by Charmme Kaur, and JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla, it co-stars Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh. Puri, one hopes, hasn't cast his regulars like Ali.
