Director Tharun Bhascker has suggested that he would like to tread a new path in the coming years. In a recent interview, he stated that he would like to try something other than a comedy.

"I have only made different sorts of comedies. Pelli Choopulu was a rom-com. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi was a buddy comedy. And Keedaa Cola was a crime comedy. I might move away from the comedy genre," Tharun told a YouTube channel. He is currently directing ENE Repeat, a sequel to ENE. The film's budget is said to be more than Rs 60 Cr.

Since his debut in 2016, Tharun has seen the audience's tastes undergo a shift. The likes of Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Prashanth Neel, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Sukumar have made actioners synonymous with cinema. Aditya Dhar, with the Dhurandhar movies, has only gone a notch higher. Tharun Bhascker realizes that, if he has to do big-scale movies in the coming years, he should take on intense subjects. He is going to be seen in Gaaya Padda Simham on May 1.
