The first glimpse of Chiranjeevi (to be released in theatres this Summer) ends on a suspenseful note. Throughout, everyone around the male lead (Kiku Yamanala) believes that he was born with dextrocardia, an anatomical condition where the heart is located on the right. In a life-threatening situation, the heroine (Kashish Khan) saves him after he faints in a jungle. Days later, on a bed, her romance with him is interrupted by a brutal realization: has he been hiding something from her?
Chiranjeevi has been made as a romantic actioner. The supporting cast includes veteran actors Tanikella Bharani and Eswari Rao alongside Goparaju Ramana, Srikanth Bharath, and Viva Raghav. Coming with a shocking climax, the film is led by a passionate team.
Debutant Kiku has no Godfather in the industry. "Since I come from a middle-class background, my family was not inclined to support my acting dreams. With courage and conviction, I have soldiered on. Our film conveys the message that your physical condition is of little consequence as long as you are powered by your sense of determination. When I narrated the concept of Chiranjeevi to some individuals, they felt an established name should front the movie. However, commissioning a star vehicle is easier said than done. Chiranjeevi is surely going to click with the audience. We have resolved to keep making meaningful cinema," he added.
Director Shuba Sai Venkat is gung-ho about Kiku's "outstanding" performance. "He barely looks like a newcomer. His performance attains a different level of intensity in the second hour. Everyone, including Kashish, has acted like they have years of experience. Our producer, Deepti Nadiminti, is the real hero of the project," the filmmaker added.
Producer Deepti said, "I come from a traditional family. Yet, cinema has always intrigued me, entertained me. The audience is immersed in storytelling for 2.5 hours. That's cinema. I have become a producer out of respect for cinema. Chiranjeevi is a responsible project built on the foundation of a strong story and compelling characters."
Composer Sekhar Chandra, who usually prefers love stories and horror movies, is happy to have experimented with his soundscape for this romantic actioner. "I was drawn to the project because of its concept. The intensity bowled me over during the BGM phase. The climax is unpredictable," he added.
Editor Chota K Prasad echoed his colleagues when he said that the film is gripping right from the word go. "The director pushed for excellence. The conflict plot point is novel," he added.
Actor Rajeev said that every scene in the film is so gripping that, if the Megastar were to watch it, he would certainly appreciate the team. "The second hour is so nail-biting that nobody is going to look at their smartphone during its run-time," he added. Actor Ram Jagan said that the film is packed with unexpected twists. "The production values are uncompromising. The film has been mounted on a big budget. I, along with others, have got to play fab characters," he added.
