Mahi V. Raghav is currently spearheading a quirky supernatural comedy titled Om Shanthi Disco Shanthi. While Gogu RR is wielding the megaphone, Mahi is writing it. He is also its "Creator".
What is the film about? When a group of vengeful ghosts encounters a band of people who are utterly, blissfully mad and immune to fear, the traditional haunting goes hilariously off the rails. On the face of it, we can expect an eccentric horror-comedy that trades jump scares for slapstick absurdity and surreal dance numbers.
Mahi has had an uneven history with the comedy genre. His feature film, Anando Brahma, was so-so. Save the Tigers (a comedic web series he wrote) was boring. Om Shanthi Disco Shanthi is coming out at a time when most comedies have become unbearable. So, it's a low-hanging fruit for Mahi, whose Yatra and Yatra 2 have firmly made him seem like a partisan filmmaker. If it clicks, he will be back to directing feature films.
