Gaaya Padda Simham: Promotions enter 'chillar' zone

It's hard to say what is worse in Tollywood: the films they make, or the promotions they conceive to sell their sorry creations. Speaking at the pre-release event of Gaaya Padda Simham on Tuesday, actor JD Chakravarthy crossed all limits. His speech forayed into a special type of 'chillar' zone.

JD quipped that the Government of India had thought of stalling the release of GPS fearing that its content might lead to tensions between India and the US. The film, to be released in theatres on May 1, has satirical references to Trump's Visa policy that has disadvantaged Indian workers. "We have used Trump so much that he is one of the characters in our movie," JD shared.

International relations are no joke. They are not MAA election-type petty quarrels. Tollywood has so many ways to exhibit the limits of its cheapness. They have fake controversies, hyperbolic interviews, paid posts, staged sympathy, etc. Serious issues can be left alone.

Gaaya Padda Simham is headlined by Tharun Bhascker and Manasa Chowdhary, while the Sree Vishnu-Faria Abdullah duo has extended cameos. It is directed by Kasyap Sreenivas.
