'EPIC is about us': Anand Deverakonda promises a nostalgic love story

Speaking at the teaser launch event of EPIC – First Semester, actor Anand Deverakonda suggested that the film feels like his biopic. "After all, like the male lead in this film, I too studied abroad. There are many relatable moments in Epic. You will feel a lot of things about your partner, your family, your responsibilities," he said.

Anand called writer-director Aditya Hasan very unique. "There are filmmakers who come with an original voice. The second set is inspired by others. In the future, he is going to chart his own path. As for Vaishnavi Chaitanya, she is such an easy co-star to work with. We both film for scenes at a stretch. She understands the scenes just like that from the script. She will go a long way. For Sithara Entertainments, Epic will become as respectable as their hits such as SIR, Lucky Baskhar, MAD, and DJ Tillu. Epic is laced with nostalgia. It's about you and me," the Baby actor shared, adding that the film comes with a certain grounded energy. While the teaser has a reference to caste consciousness ("Meeru emitlu?"), the film is going to be free of the social element.

Hesham Abdul Wahab's five songs will be a hit, Anand said. "Sancharame was just a start. There is a heartbreak song, there is a love song, so on and so forth," the hero added. So, four more songs are going to be released in the coming weeks.

Anand found his character, Aditya, relatable. "He is confused and gets to know about himself from others. I go with the flow. I studied in the US. I had educational loans to repay, I had to keep in mind my duties towards my parents. Paying a huge debt of Rs 30-40 lakh is challenging," he added.

Vaishnavi said, "The day I listened to the story, I wanted to become Kadali. There is a Kadali in all girls. She is clear-headed and knows what she wants in a relationship. Each character has been designed beautifully. The friends around the lead pair are realistic. Epic deserves to be watched with your family."

"Epic is a relatable love story that has been made as an absolute family film at a time when romantic relationships have become so casual. You can expect romance for sure. Intimacy has to be expected when the treatment is true-to-life," the director said. Aditya Haasan added that the film won't be polarizing, unlike Baby. "Even the screenplay is linear and simple," he added.

Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas have also worked with cinematographer Azeem Mohammad and editor Navin Nooli. The production design is by Avinash Kolla.
