Pournami, the 2006 Telugu-language action-drama musical film, was led by Prabhas, Trisha and Charmme. In his latest interview, producer MS Raju shared that a serious miscalculation was behind its failure.
"I worked with Prabhas mainly because I already had a working rapport with him, having cast him as the lead man in Varsham. Something in me told me Prabhas was unsuited for the subject. I still went ahead. And the audience rejected the film outright. They had expected a Chhatrapathi, a Varsham," Raju said, confessing to misjudging the audience's mood.
The film was directed by Prabhu Deva. Devi Sri Prasad composed its music. The big-budget movie was shot over 180-190 working days. "The film was shot at key historical locations such as the Virupaksha Temple, elephant stables, and Stepwell in Hampi, adding an authentic period aesthetic to the film," the film's Wikipedia page notes.
Meanwhile, producer MS Raju awaits the release of Agadha on August 14. The mystical thriller is headlined by Kamakshi Bhaskarla.
