Multi-lingual artist Pradeep Rawat passed away on Tuesday evening in Mumbai. He was 74 years old. He was battling blood cancer and was receiving treatment at Kokilaben Hospital.
The Telugu audience know him as the artist of two popular SS Rajamouli directorials: Prabhas' Chatrapathi and Nithiin's Sye. He also did Ravi Teja's Bhadra and Chiranjeevi's Stalin. The Tamil film Ghajini, starring Suriya in the lead, was another of his most important outings. He won a Nandi Award for Best Villain for Sye.
Pradeep Rawat was widely popular for playing impactful villainous roles in Indian cinema. He began his acting career on television with BR Chopra's iconic serial Mahabharat. He played the role of Ashwatthama in the show. He later transitioned into mainstream cinema and delivered notable performances across Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil film industries. Audiences loved his roles in Bollywood hits like Lagaan and Sarfarosh.
Besides acting in Telugu and Hindi, he expanded his career across multiple language industries over the years. His regional cinema debuts include Parodi in Kannada and China Town in Malayalam. He also stepped into Bengali films with Hero 420 and Bhojpuri cinema with Crack Fighter.
Pradeep Rawat also acted in Telugu movies such as Waltair Veerayya, Naa Peru Surya, Jai Lava Kusa, Katamarayudu, Sardaar Gabbar Singh, and 1: Nenokkadine.
