Venky Atluri has come to be called Jr Trivikram after the release of Vishwanath And Sons. Some of the themes in the Suriya-Mamitha Baiju movie bear similarities with Attarintiki Daredi, for example. Many feel the treatment too has that zing.
In a recent interview, Atluri noted that, as someone who grew up in the 1980s, Chiranjeevi was his idol, and directing him would be a huge responsibility. He has already envisioned a thriller with the Waltair Veerayya star. However, he is looking at a step-by-step career progression and doesn't plan to go for one of the biggest heroes.
Atluri started directing star heroes like Dulquer Salmaan and Suriya only in recent years. He wants to be fully prepared before hopping on the big league. He currently has projects lined up with Siddhu Jonnalagadda (it's a Netflix series), and two other actors. Too many young filmmakers have expressed a desire to direct Chiranjeevi over the years. Chiru, however, got impressed with stories pitched by two unexpected filmmakers: Bobby Kolli, and Vasishta Mallidi.
