The show has now got a distinctly Tamil soul. Kollywood's who's who is going to appear on the show, to be aired on Sony VIZHA and streamed on Sony LIV.
The themes of the show are varied, going beyond just the food. Flavour, emotion and celebration are part of it, stated Sony Pictures Networks India. Titled Celebrity MasterChef Tamil, it will be all about "culinary challenges, unexpected twists and the pressure of creating dishes that win both the challenge and the audience", producer Banijay Asia stated. Tamil-specific flavours will be a highlight.
Exclusive short-form content involving celeb moments in the kitchen will be a highlight. Samantha, who recently scored a big BO hit, is "incredibly elated". Saying that Celebrity MasterChef Tamil is a first-of-its-kind experience in her career, she suggested that bringing "some of our favourite Tamil celebrities’ step into the kitchen, take risks, make mistakes, surprise themselves, and compete with a lot more passion than you would expect" is going to be super-fun.
In a promo released by Sony VIZHA and SonyLIV, we see the Maa Inti Bangaram actress say that, on set, action ends with a 'Cut', while in the kitchen, action begins with it. Celebrity MasterChef Tamil is fashioned after MasterChef, a competitive reality television format where passionate amateur and home cooks compete in a series of high-pressure culinary challenges to prove their skills, earn the title of MasterChef, and win a substantial cash prize alongside a trophy.
