Actor Yash is the first hero to deliver two films with over Rs 100 crore nett on opening day in India, box-office reports have said. The feat comes via KGF: Chapter 2 and his latest release Toxic. Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, collected Rs 101 crore nett in India on Day 1. This follows KGF 2’s Rs 116 crore nett opening in 2022.
Prabhas came close to matching this rare double. His Baahubali 2 crossed the Rs 100 crore nett mark. Later films like Kalki 2898 AD (around Rs 95 crore) and Salaar (around Rs 91 crore) fell just short. He remains the only star with multiple near-misses at the elite threshold.
Unlike Prabhas' Baahubali 2, Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar, Toxic has opened to negative reviews. So, its fall at the box-office from Day 2 is expected to be sharp. For Yash, personally, Toxic's fabulous openings are great news that his brand is solid. When he headlines a true winner in terms of content, the numbers he is going to pull off will be stunning. Yash will be seen next in Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana (Diwali release).
