Ravi Basrur's background score for Toxic has drawn criticism, reviving an old debate. Many now believe three of South cinema's biggest composers reserve their finest work for one favourite filmmaker.
Ravi Basrur's association with Prashanth Neel produced the thunderous scores of KGF, KGF: Chapter 2, and Salaar. He is now working on Jr NTR's Dragon. Outside that partnership, his output has felt less consistent, and Toxic seems to confirm this pattern.
MM Keeravani shares a similar bond with SS Rajamouli, thanks to Magadheera, Vikramarkudu, Eega, Baahubali, Baahubali 2, and RRR. Yet Keeravani deserves credit for versatility. He has composed strong scores for other directors too, across Telugu and Hindi films, proving his talent isn't director-dependent. His BGM was praised for Nandamuri Kalyanram's Bimbisara. Harshavardhan Rameshwar's rise came through Sandeep Reddy Vanga, with Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh, and Animal showcasing his intense, brooding style. Heis currently working on Prabhas' Spirit.
