Hollywood director Satya Reddy and the production team of his upcoming film, King Buddha, joined a group of 60 Buddhist monks from Thailand for a segment of their historic World Peace Padayatra. This unique spiritual journey spans nearly 400 kms, beginning at Swarnabhumi in Karnataka and concluding at the sacred Buddhabhumi in Nagarjuna Sagar, Telangana. Today, the march covered a 17-kilometer stretch from Hyderabad to Turkayamjal, where the film unit walked alongside the monks. The makers expressed an aspiration to organize similar peace marches from Kashmir to Kanyakumari
Senior Buddhist monks offered a special blessing to director Satya Reddy. They presented him with a Gautama Buddha locket, offering prayers for the grand worldwide success of his ambitious Hollywood project. The filmmaker accepted the honor with humility. He further noted that evolving from a filmmaker in Tollywood to directing an international Hollywood production is a point of great professional pride. He further acknowledged that bringing the life of Buddha to the global screen is a responsibility and a meaningful challenge.
Addressing the media, Satya Reddy shared that his film is progressing rapidly after its initial launch in the US. He revealed that principal photography has already been completed across 10 countries, with plans to film in an additional 15 Buddhist nations to capture the authentic essence of the Buddhist philosophy. The project is designed on a massive scale, featuring a diverse cast of prominent actors from Hollywood, Bollywood, and South Indian cinema. The film will be released in over 100 languages worldwide.
Satya Reddy paid tribute to the legendary revolutionary poet Gaddar. He recalled that during the 100-day celebration of his earlier film, Ukku Satyagraham, it was Gaddar who first introduced him to the profound depths of Buddhism. This mentorship encouraged Reddy to integrate Buddhist themes into his cinematic work, eventually leading to the birth of this international epic. This foundation of social consciousness remains a driving force behind the film’s message of peace and unity.
The official teaser and trailer for King Buddha will be launched at events in Thailand and Malaysia, while major pre-release events are being planned for Delhi and Amaravati.
