Pawan Kalyan underwent a successful shoulder surgery in Mumbai on Saturday morning. Medical specialists performed a three and a half hour operation to treat a severe rotator cuff injury. The surgery focused only on his right shoulder for now. Doctors decided against operating on both sides simultaneously to prevent unbearable post-operative pain for the leader.
Years of neglected injuries:
The root cause of the condition dates back to initial injuries sustained in 2016. The damage worsened over the next decade due to intense political activity. During the Porata Yatra in 2018 and the recent Varahi Yatra, massive crowds of enthusiastic fans and Janasena Party cadres routinely rushed to greet him. Supporters frequently pulled and tugged at his arms to shake hands or embrace him. He consistently ignored the pain and neglected medical rest to continue his public service. He even delayed this scheduled surgery until he completed all his previously fixed official commitments.

Medical discovery and recovery:
Doctors discovered the full extent of the damage during medical tests in April. At that time, Pawan Kalyan was undergoing a separate nasal surgery. Medical checkups revealed severe rotator cuff injuries and deep muscle tears in both shoulders. Doctors expressed immense surprise at his ability to endure such high levels of pain while maintaining a demanding public schedule. They strongly advised immediate surgical intervention. Following preliminary tests on Friday, the right shoulder operation was completed successfully.
Another surgery soon:
Pawan Kalyan is currently resting under close medical supervision in Mumbai. He will require a second surgery on his left shoulder in about two months.
