The team behind Maa Inti Bangaaram is elated as their latest offering is thriving on the back of its solidly engaging content. Its theatrical run across India and overseas markets (particularly North America) has been a total riot.
By pulling off a recovery of more than 300% on its budget (it broke-even on Day 1 itself), the film has been a trailblazer this year. In absolute terms, its worldwide gross now stands at Rs 100 Cr. That's humongous! "Ours is the first female-led Telugu film to break into the one-billion mark," Tralala Moving Pictures stated.
Producer Himank Reddy Duvvuru has described the success as a "case study", adding that the family-friendly action drama has amassed the highest overseas collections for a female- led film. By raking in $2.5 Million, the Samantha Ruth Prabhu-led outing stands at No. 6 amongst India's highest grossing solo female-led Indian films. In the history of female-led movies in India, this is nothing less than a sizzling performance deserving of an ovation.
Co-starring Gulshan Devaiah (as a manipulative Maoist), Diganth Manchale (as the titular character's husband), Gautami, and Manjusha Mukkavilli (as the heroine's friend), the film is more than just a project for Samantha. "Maa Inti Bangaaram proves that audiences across languages are ready to back a story led entirely by a woman," she said. Her husband and creator Raj Nidimoru is grateful to the Telugu audience.
