Homer’s ancient Greek masterpiece is officially entering the digital era. A director named Ash Koosha has collaborated with AI film studio Fountain 0 to make Odysseus: The Fall, a feature-length, 135-minute film generated entirely by artificial intelligence. Scheduled for release later this year, this adaptation will be available for audiences to rent or purchase directly through Fountain 0’s official website.
A host of reactions have come about from movie buffs: "Imagine if this AI version of the movie ended up making a version of The Odyssey that is closer to the actual source material compared to Christopher Nolan's version? An actually beautiful Helen of Troy. Costumes that look more authentic. Ships that are actually Greek instead of a Viking ship. This kind of thing is going to keep getting more common as AI keeps getting better and faster. Haters can keep crying all they want, but the unrelenting wheel of progress never stops," a cine-goer wrote online.
Another audience member predicted that the AI movement will do well eventually. "Probably going to have glitches and consistency issues, which people are going to immediately point out. But the most important thing here is the budget and time they managed to do it in. We will probably see v2 remakes as technology improves, like software replacing worse versions," he wrote. "AI fully generated films will be normative within the next decade. Those of us who are active in the AI community have been saying for years that this is inevitable. But many are actually hating on the "AI slop", saying that the AI tech is going to rob movie-making of soul.
