Akhil Akkineni has confirmed the rumour that he is an American citizen. He acquired US citizenship by birth.
"I am an American. But I am in the process of giving it up. I will soon be an Indian citizen. Mera Bharat Mahaan," the Lenin actor revealed in his latest interview.
Akhil also explained his 3-year gap in his filmography. He suffered a severe hand injury due to a freak accident. The cut was so deep that he could literally see the bone. Two surgeries were performed to rectify the severe nerve damage and it took 16 months for him to recover completely from the accident. During that phase, he stayed away from work. "Even now, my flexion is just around 60%. But it will come back. I now have a wife to worry about. I will have kids to take care of," Akhil shared.
