Rashmika Mandanna suffers serious hip injury

Rashmika Mandanna has suffered a "serious injury" while filming a dance sequence, her team today stated. The multi-lingual actress sustained a "complete tendon detachment in her hip".

Non-stop working on Mysaa (in which she is playing a tribal warrior) and Vijay Deverakonda's Ranabaali has contributed to the worsening of the injury. "The injury stems from back-to-back action and dance sequences across both projects. Doctors have called the severity unusual, noting such tears are typically seen in athletes who undergo intense physical conditioning. Complete rest for six weeks has been advised, along with a rehabilitation programme to help the tendon heal and regain strength," a source says.

The Animal star is juggling four major film projects at present. Last year, she was seen in Chhaava and The Girlfriend, among others.

Whether the injury and bed rest is going to affect the production schedules of Mysaa and Ranabaali is now a matter of speculation. Mysaa required her to shoot underwater for many hours recently.

The injury adds to a string of recent setbacks for Telugu film personalities. Pawan Kalyan underwent shoulder surgery in Mumbai in July for a torn rotator cuff sustained over years of strain. Ram Charan had wrist surgery in Coimbatore after injuring himself during action sequences for Peddi. Nandamuri Balakrishna underwent knee surgery in Hyderabad following a torn quadriceps tendon suffered while shooting an action scene for NBK111, with doctors advising him too to rest for six weeks. Jr NTR has also stepped back from his Dragon shoot after a shoulder injury.
