Wicker denotes a technique of weaving flexible plant materials together to make furniture, baskets, and other items. In the film starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, the "wicker husband" is a life-sized human figure. Instead of being a living human, the character played by Alexander Skarsgård is a physical creation made from woven basketry that magically comes to life.
Because the film features a genuine romance between a human and a woven basket figure, filming intimate scenes required meticulous logistical planning. Before shooting began, the directors and Skarsgård held private 10-minute test rehearsals in full costume to figure out how a wicker man moves and expresses love dynamically. Netizens are thrilled. "I am all for more creature romances and I will absolutely be seated for this but also wouldn't having a lover made entirely out of wicker... you know... itch a lot," a movie buff joked.
