Peddi may be message-oriented and emotional, but calling it realistic is a stretch. Authentic sports dramas don't rely on the superhuman qualities of the protagonist to excel in a sport. In Peddi, Ram Charan's impossible cricket shots make him seem like a Telugu movie hero rather than someone who youngsters can look up to in an attempt to chase on-field excellence. He masters wrestling in no time, trouncing past masters of the game. Another of his achievements, reserved for the final act, is equally impossible.
Peddi is inauthentic in another context. Most of the actors didn't dub their lines. Look at the number of non-Telugu actors on board: Shiva Rajkumar, Divyyendu, John Vijay, Upendra Limaye, Tarak Ponnappa, and Viji Chandrasekhar (Pedi's mother). The casting of non-Telugu actors was justified only in the case of Boman Irani, Ravi Kishan, Tinnu Anand, and Hareesh Peradi.
