Disclosure Day: Christians react to Steven Spielberg's comments

Disclosure Day, a sci-fi thriller about a government alien cover-up being exposed (starring Emily Blunt and others, scripted by David Koepp), releases June 12.

Here is what Steven Spielberg said in his recent interview, sparking outrage: "Is God our God only on this planet, or is God a God for every system where there is civilization, intelligent life, and even developing life?" Although Spielberg never actually used the word "Christianity" or singled out any specific religion in the interview, a viral social media post claimed he stated Disclosure Day would have "Christians and people of faith second-guessing their own religion."

Many believers on X and elsewhere firmly rejected the Hollywood legend's view that the film is going to cause an "ontological shock". They stated that Disclosure Day won't shake their faith in Jesus' resurrection or core doctrines. Some view aliens as potential "demons" or spiritual deception. Others saw the film as Hollywood's recurring trope of challenging Christianity specifically. Christian commentators and podcasters are saying that faith can accommodate a bigger cosmos.
