Suriya is reportedly set to play the lead actor in Kollywood director Nelson Dilipkumar’s next bi-lingual film, which will be produced by Sithara Entertainments' S Naga Vamsi. The project was originally planned with Jr NTR. However, the makers have now decided to move ahead with Suriya as the RRR star remains occupied with Prashanth Neel's Dragon and Trivikram's God Of War (which is yet to go on the floors).
Nelson is currently focused on Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, while Suriya is enjoying renewed momentum in his career. The actor has become one of the most sought-after stars in the Tamil film industry again following the staggering success of Karuppu. The film’s performance has strengthened his market value and increased demand for his upcoming projects.
Sithara Entertainments is also working with Suriya on Vishwanath & Sons, which is directed by Venky Atluri.
However, industry observers believe the fate of Nelson’s film could also depend on the performance of Jailer 2. If the sequel turns out to be a box-office disappointment, it may impact the momentum surrounding Nelson’s next project. As it is, projects have been changing hands in the film industry in the era of long-gestation pan-Indian cinema.
