The Andhra Pradesh Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation, which was formed recently, held its inaugural board meeting on Monday. The high-profile session took place at a prominent star hotel in Vijayawada. Corporation Chairman P Bharat Bhushan presided over the gathering. Managing Director KS Viswanathan and several prominent board directors attended the event.
During the session, the board officially appointed Chikkala Meher Ramesh Kumar as the Vice Chairman of the Corporation. Members held extensive discussions regarding the future of the entertainment sectors. "They focused heavily on creating a friendly ecosystem for filmmakers. The board also reviewed plans for infrastructure development and new state investments," an official statement says.
Focus on Nandi Awards and artists
The board dedicated a significant portion of the meeting to the prestigious Nandi Awards. Members reviewed details about previously announced awards. They also mapped out new frameworks and procedures for future ceremonies. The committee aims to streamline the recommendation process for these state honors moving forward.
Every member expressed a strong commitment to strengthening the local industry. The Corporation plans to offer better support to artists, technicians, and producers. General Manager Mudavath Srinivas Naik attended alongside various department officials. The Information and Public Relations Department of Andhra Pradesh officially issued the details of this meeting. Following the main meeting, the board finalized decisions from the Extraordinary General Meeting to submit to the government.
Much more is going to happen
In March this year, director-producer Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao announced ambitious plans during the event. He said efforts would begin to establish a film studio in Amaravati with government support. He also spoke about plans to build theatres across the state and promised that five films would be produced this year on the banks of the River Krishna. According to Suman Talwar, large-scale film shootings in AP would create economic activity and help cinema-related businesses grow.
