Tamannaah Bhatia has renamed 'item songs', saying that they should rather be called 'party songs'. In a recent interview with Forbes, the Baahubali actress added that even the likes of Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have done songs that outlived the films that featured them.
She was critical of the "patriarchal gaze" in southern films. After acting in dozens of Telugu and Tamil movies, it's surprising that Tamannaah considers the south industry inferior. "The only reason Tamannah even got to play heroine in South movies is because of the stupid fetish of South Indian males for milky white skin and her own absence of any inhibition in being seen in those films. Did the lady really think she made it big because of her acting chops?" a netizen named Puyangan Adiyan wrote.
Contrary to the interpretation by many, Tamannaah didn't bash Tollywood and Kollywood in the interview. Using the term 'patriarchal gaze' doesn't amount to bashing.
