Vishwambhara: Is the cinematographer really at fault? Find out

Cinematographer Chota K Naidu today tried to dispel rumours that his "poor" output is why Chiranjeevi's Vishwambhara had to be reworked by its VFX teams, resulting in a delay of more than one year. Today, he commented that in heavy VFX projects, the CGI technician is the most important person on set, not the DoP. He noted that the cinematographer must follow the lighting and technical requirements set by the VFX team to ensure seamless integration.

"The cinematographer is irrelevant in the context of VFX-heavy movies. It's only with the approval of the CGI technician on set that I have to go for a shot. The cameraman has to set aside his ego and work in tandem with him. If the cameraman is not cooperative, it will become a mess," Chota K Naidu said, adding that he has worked on Vishwambhara with his head held low. "It's a high-stakes project made on a budget of Rs 400 Cr," he added.

Director Vassishta Mallidi recently confirmed that Vishwambhara contains nearly 5,000 VFX shots. Produced by UV Creations, it co-stars Trisha Krishnan and others.
