Actor Rajendra Prasad recently used unparliamentary language while praising the yesteryear hero, Kantha Rao. Speaking at an event, he remarked that Kantha Rao's folk movies used to be so important that even a legendary actor like MG Ramachandran "pissed in his pants" knowing their impact. Since MGR is a Tamilian, Kollywood celebs are slowly starting to hit out at Rajendra Prasad.
Prominent actor Vishal today described the remarks as "shocking and repelling". The Madha Gaja Raja actor wrote, "Your speech about another legendary actor is a lovely gesture. However, at the same time, bringing down and demeaning a legendary actor like MGR ayya, who will be remembered for ever, is not going down well with the sentiments of our people." He urged the Nata Kireeti to tender an apology.
Tamil producer-director K. Rajasekharan Nair dismissed the comparison, stating MGR was in a "completely different league" and urged Rajendra Prasad to "check his facts." There has also been a widespread backlash from Tamil netizens, fans, MGR admirers, and social media users.
