In a move that cements Hyderabad’s reputation as a tech and cinema powerhouse, Netflix has launched Eyeline Studios, its global production and innovation hub. This landmark expansion places India as a critical node in the world’s most advanced production pipelines. This is a new era for the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector.
Spanning a massive 32,000 square feet, the Hyderabad facility joins an elite network of studios located in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul, and London. "The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art generative virtual effects and a robust hybrid cloud infrastructure. The studio is designed to deliver high-end visual storytelling that was once the exclusive domain of Hollywood’s biggest hubs," the promoters said.
Addressing the gathering at today's inaugural, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed immense pride in welcoming the streaming giant. He noted that welcoming Eyeline and Netflix is a matter of pride for the city, describing Hyderabad as a "natural home" for the brand. The CM remarked that both the city and the company share a trajectory of global success and job creation. He further remarked that Netflix and Hyderabad serve as gateways connecting global opportunities with worldwide talent, and he pledged his unwavering support for their journey in showcasing local stories to the world.
Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju highlighted the city’s creative DNA. He observed that the city which birthed the iconic Baahubali is the rightful place for such a studio. He pointed out India’s deep history of storytelling and Hyderabad’s existing legacy in the AVGC sector, noting that the city is already home to major Hollywood offices and the upcoming IICT campus.
The strategic importance of this launch extends beyond just fancy hardware. D. Sridhar Babu, Telangana Minister for IT and Commerce, voiced the government’s ambition to transform Hyderabad into a "global capital for storytelling." He stated that Netflix’s decision reflects a deep confidence in India’s creative talent. The Minister also reiterated the government's commitment to skill development, asserting that their goal is to make the region the world’s number one destination for VFX and animation training.
For the film industry, the arrival of Eyeline is a game-changer. Actor-producer Rana Daggubati thanked the audience for demanding world-class quality, noting that Indian filmmakers are already setting global benchmarks. He welcomed the studio by stating that its presence provides even greater support to the industry, offering a massive opportunity for any artist or storyteller looking to break into the field.
For Eyeline Studios, the choice was clear. CEO Jeff Shapiro explained that when searching for a new location, Hyderabad stood out immediately as the ideal choice. He praised the city for blending strong technology and engineering capabilities with a film culture that understands "ambition." Shapiro noted that the local talent possesses a unique mix of artistic skill and "flawless technical precision," expressing his delight at building long-term global capabilities from the city.
