When Revanth Reddy used to keep a count of superstar's movies

There was a time when Revanth Reddy was just another movie buff. As a youngster, he was a fan of Superstar Krishna. He used to travel one hundred kilometers to be able to watch his movies on day one in Kurnool. Back in the day, only important centres used to open new releases. Since the majority of the audience were poor, single screens were few and far between.

"Krishna garu used to act in 15-16 movies in a year. I used to keep a count of his movies," the Telangana Chief Minister said on Thursday at the Allu Cinemas event in Kokapet, Hyderabad.

The CM subtly lamented that big heroes these days barely act in one movie every few years. With the scale of cinema going up and the audience becoming increasingly demanding in nature, it is but natural that stars can't be doing dozens of movies.

On the occasion, the Congress leader vowed to make Hyderabad a global capital for movie-making. "Just as Hyderabad competes with global cities in the IT and pharma sectors, its competition must be with Hollywood in the field of cinema," Revanth Reddy said.
