Allu Aravind and Allu Entertainment have officially unveiled Allu Cinemas, a premier four-screen multiplex located within the Allu Studios complex in Kokapet. The first Dolby Cinema has been introduced to Hyderabad. It has been designed to cater to a global standard of film viewing.
Here are the five highlights of the premium theatre property:
1. The flagship auditorium features a 75-foot wide flat aspect ratio screen (Screen 1), making it the largest Dolby Cinema in India. Allu Aravind noted that the project was born from observing how audiences now crave more than just a story. He stated that, during the release of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, he realized youngsters today don’t just want to watch a movie, they want to experience it. An industrialist himself requested him to arrange four tickets for his family on day one at a premium screen. This incident led Aravind to think of bringing something iconic to Hyderabad.
2. Central to the experience is the dual Dolby Vision 6P laser projection system and a 64-channel Dolby Atmos immersive audio system. Aravind explained that in Dolby, a movie looks and sounds completely different. When a film is converted into this format, the visuals and sound become extraordinary. To maintain the aesthetic and focus, 78 speakers and 165 sound outlets in Screen 1 are installed so they remain invisible to the audience.
3. The design of the auditoriums focuses on absolute immersion through pitch-black environments and precision engineering. Allu Aravind shared that the inspiration for such luxury came partly from seeing successful high-end theaters in smaller towns like Sullurpeta (owned by UV Creations' Vamsi), which proved that people are ready to spend money for a superior experience. The use of curved stadium seating ensures that every one of the 648 viewers in the main hall has the perfect viewing angle.
4. Beyond the primary Dolby Cinema hall, the complex includes three additional auditoriums equipped with Barco 4K laser projection and Dolby Atmos surround sound. Allu Aravind pointed out that the traditional single-screen experience is no longer enough for modern viewers, which is why the focus was placed on building something that goes beyond the standard multiplex. These additional screens feature recliners, loungers, and next-generation 3D capabilities.
5. Located near major hubs like the Financial District and Gachibowli, the facility is designed as a destination for families and corporate audiences. Allu Aravind reflected on the two years of hard work required to build the site. He noted that audiences are actively waiting for large-format screens and new cinematic experiences.
The venue offers an expanded food and beverage menu featuring Italian, Chinese, and Indian cuisines across spacious concession areas.
Dolby Cinema versus Dolby Atmos:
There are 1000 Dolby Atmos screens in India. However, Allu Cinemas is just the third Dolby Cinema screen. While both are created by Dolby Laboratories, the fundamental difference is that Dolby Atmos is an audio technology, whereas Dolby Cinema is a premium cinema concept that combines specific audio, video, and design standards. Dolby Atmos is a single ingredient (sound), while Dolby Cinema is the entire five-course meal (the theater experience).
