If media reports are to be believed, Jana Nayagan's OTT deal is being rewritten. Amazon Prime Video's original offer was Rs 120 Cr. The value of the deal is now being reworked taking into account the inordinate delay in the movie's theatrical release. Unlike what speculative reports are suggesting, it won't be a 100% loss for the makers. Probably, a 20-30% loss is inevitable.
At this rate, theatrical deals, too, will undergo revaluation. A 30% loss in theatrical business will effectively make Jana Nayagan a loss project prior to its theatrical release.
In case loss is inevitable, KVN Productions would ask Thalapathy Vijay to reduce his fee. He is entitled to receive a paycheck of Rs 250 Cr. It is likely that only a percentage of this fee was paid out in advance. He might have to give up on a major portion of the pending fee in light of the financial crisis facing the project.
The aim of Vijay's political rivals has been to affect him financially so that his party's funding takes a severe hit. They have almost achieved it ahead of the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. Everything went as per their script.
