Jr NTR's Dragon, Ram Charan's Peddi and Prabhas' Fauzi are among the most important movies currently being made by Mythri Movie Makers. For Peddi, the banner is a secondary production house; Vriddhi Cinemas being the primary one.
On Wednesday, producer Naveen Yerneni suggested that increased ticket rates will be requested by him for these movies. "These are big-scale projects. On Dragon, during the recent schedule in Jordan, we spent Rs 1-1.5 Cr each day. If costs are exorbitant, higher ticket rates become essential," Yerneni said, implying that cost recovery is the sole driving concern of producers.
The existing system is entirely dependent on the whims of the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Ustaad Bhagat Singh hasn't opted for increased rates in Telangana because the makers couldn't secure Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's appointment in time. Notably, the Cinematography Minister has previously asked producers not to approach him for higher rates.
This is why it is essential for a flexi pricing system to be put in place. In such a system, a broad range is permitted by the government. Depending on the demand, producers/exhibitors will have the liberty to decide the pricing within that range. Permissions/Government Orders won't be needed for each and every film.
