Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer: Trailer presents magical themes and a fire incarnate

Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer is billed as a high-concept period fantasy helmed with a sociological sweetp by Rojin Thomas. The Trailer for the multi-lingual movie, which is angling to overcome geographical boundaries and limitations imposed by language, is out.

The trailer release comes with a mind-blowing piece of information. Kathanar is a pan-world spectacle to be released in 15 languages, only six of which are Indian. English, Chinese, French, Korean, Italian, Russian, Indonesian, Japanese, and German are the foreign languages in which the movie will be released. Producer Gokulam Gopalan of Sree Gokulam Movies is attempting something nobody has done before in Indian cinema.

Starring Jayasurya as Kadamattathu Kathanar (a protector who upholds order), the film's screenplay is filled with craft and big-brain ideas. "The male lead, as per the story, is an iconic priest from Kerala. His supernatural tales are stuffed with themes from different regions. They are suffused with myth, magic, and folklore," the makers shared.

Kanthalloor Saala is where the story takes place. However, as the plot advances and more layers get added to the story, Venad becomes the theatre of action. To be sure, the new backdrop is not only atmospheric and moody but is also deviously dark. "It lies beyond the furthest reach of your imagination. A magic that will leave you breathless, your jaw fallen in awe. It shall cleave unto your soul, and become the loom that weaves your dreams," a character declares, inviting the viewer into something incredible. Characters range from the Lord of the Cheras to a superhuman who arrives in tough times. A "fire incarnate" is also teased.

The icing on the cake is Anushka Shetty. The Baahubali and Bhaagamathie lady has a majestic presence in the film. This is also her Mollywood debut. "She portrays the ethereal Kalliyankattu Neeli, a Yakshi whose unsettling aura creates a sharp, tense contrast against Kathanar’s spiritual resilience," the makers analyzed. The screenplay is a collaborative effort between Rojin Thomas and R. Ramanand, brought to life through Neil D’Cunha’s cinematography and Rahul Subrahmanian’s score.

Kathanar teems with a range of actors performing supporting parts: from the iconic dancer Prabhu Deva to Harith Uthaman and Vineeth, from Sanoop Santhosh and Sandy to Devika Sanjay, there are many out there. The production design is by Rajeevan.
