It's rumoured that actress Trisha Krishnan will be fielded as an MLA candidate on a TVK ticket in the upcoming by-poll for one of the constituencies from which Vijay will be stepping down soon.
Vijay is going to be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu sooner than later. Once he assumes power, the media backed by the entrenched political interests representing the DMK and the AIADMK are going to politicize Trisha's candidacy. They are going to accuse him of nepotism if he platforms Trisha, his wife-to-be.
At this point, Vijay is not mooting a strategic role for Trisha in upcoming administrative decisions. Her participation in politics is going to be as an MLA, unless something drastic happens. A standalone by-election, however, will be symbolic in nature. It won't be good for optics.
Vijay should field a highly educated person with impeccable academic credentials from the constituency. That way, he will have successfully ambushed the opposition narrative against him.
