As per national media reports today, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is working on a film adaptation of novelist Amish Tripathi's The Immortals of Meluha. With several publications claiming that the Dhurandhar star will be essaying Lord Shiva in a film based on the popular fantasy novel, the author himself has opened up on the gossip.

The truth is that Ranveer is not playing any such role. “The rights for the Shiva Trilogy are with me. And nothing has been signed with anyone as yet. Of course, I have huge respect for Ranveer, and am a big fan of his. But this news is not true," Tripathi today told Variety India.

In the past, Karan Johar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have made attempts to adapt the Meluha novels. They dropped the idea fearing public outcry over the lenient depiction of Shiva in the film.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is gearing up to shoot a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller. This one will go on the floors either in September or October. After the staggering success of the Dhurandhar movies, the actor's moves are being watched closely.
